The accommodation is located within the gay area.
The host speaks English, French, Italian and Spanish.

Sicilians broaden up their mind and are more tolerant than the past. Gays, bi-curious, trans-gendered are active participants in several recent mass-media programs, which encourage the process of coming out. The narrow minded are the minority. The word gay is no longer a taboo and local residents are friendly and hospitable.

Sicilian pride parades in Catania and Palermo organized by assertive gay actvists and, Rosario Crocetta, an openly gay man, who, won election as a governor of Sicily in a recent regional election in 2012 are signs of change unthinkable here.

The room is located two blocks away from the train station, where the gay night life is mostly concentrated. You can find several gay bars, gay cruising areas and, gay nudist beach Caito, discos and friendly restaurants. New businesses are popping up all over town to serve the gay community such as sfc sauna and Terme di Achille sauna.
Catania attracts young men from the Sicilian countryside to work and study. Groups of friends also drive from Palermo or the main land for weekend trips. Low cost flights and ferries bring tourists from Malta, Naples, Northern Africa and all over Europe. Sicily and especially Catania is becoming a preferred European destination for gay travelers seeking and tasting Sicilian cannolo.

Gay cruising
People meet online, or just 20 minutes on walk from the apartment, on via Etnea or Villa Bellini (a public park). Scalinata Alessi and Nievski bar are popular spots for those who want to display their affection in public.
Gay tourists who come and visit Sicily once, are likely to come back again, with their friends the following year. Some have also bought their Summer house in Catania and Siracusan coastline, where the real estate market is still interesting and reasonable.

Caito rocks.
Just behind the central train station in Catania, underneath the M tunnel, crossed the railroad tracks into the left side, there are several steep little black lava bays. You need your sneakers to walk and climb down the cliffs. It is a large cruising area with some small caves where men can have some intimacy. Be aware that police sometimes patrol the area and may fine you if you are naked, so, keep your bathing suit near your lap.

Location

Your room is in Viale della Libertà, 6th floor with lift.
It has a double bed and it gives access to a large balcony, where you can eat out in the balcony overlooking the Volcano Etna, the old roofs and the sea. An extra bed can be added. It has a desk, a chair and a large wardrobe.

The view on Catania roof, the sea and the Volcano is fabulous.
Catania Stazione Centrale, the Metro, the bus stop to Etna, the Airport, the sea-side lidos and the Bus Terminal are about 400 meters from the apartment. The Ferry Terminal is also in a walking distance (about 800 meters). You can definitively discover Sicily by public means of transportation.

Your room and the apartment

The apartment is clothing optional and it has been totally renovated and it is composed of:
your bed-room, which has been already described and another Bedroom with a double bed and bunk-beds (room B). It has air-condintioning/fan, a large wardrobes, and a desk.

The kitchen is large and modern style and has everything you need such as a microwave oven, an electric oven, bar-b-que, dishwasher and washer in the closet outside in the balcony.

The bath-room has a bidet and a very large king size christal shower.

the neighborhood
The neighbourhoo is safe. There are supermarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies and atms in the neighbourhood, and the historical markets such as "the Pescheria" and "a fera o luni", Via Etnea and the street food can also be reached in 15 minutes walk.

the sea-side nearby
- Just behind the Train station, there is a sea-side lido facility with umbrellas and sunbeds, which covers the cliffs of black lava rock by a large wooden platform. The place is ideal for families with few needs. Access to the sea by two swimming pool ladders. The staff speaks English.
- San Giovanni Li Cuti beach is not even 2 km away. There, the water is crystal clear, nice and warm, easy access, just perfect for families and their children.
- The Lidi di Plaia area (white sandy beaches)are extremely busy during the summer/holiday season.
